Dave Eisner -- photo by Sam Kittner "Welcome to the House of Musical Traditions!"

I've been saying that ever since I moved the store from NYC to Takoma Park, MD. We have been "unplugged" since 1972. Takoma Park is the Folk Capital of the Nation's Capital(tm).

So, enough about the store already, let's talk about ME!

I was born in NYC and grew up in the wilds of New Jersey. Attended University of Maryland 1966-1970, and got a B.A. in psychosis...errrr...I meant psychology. Comes in real handy when the pressure's on at this place, I can tell you.

I've been on the board of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington ( FSGW ) since 1984, serving as Vice President, Program Chair, Dance Chair, and Publicity Chair. I also run sound for IMT's Monday Night Concert Series as well as for the Kennedy Center and assorted private concerts. I host the Musical Traditions segment on the cable access TV show The Coffee House. (Here's a clip of me on the show.)

Another brush with fame: here's a photo of me with Tipper Gore! See if you can spot the visual pun.

I still maintain my Yankee fan loyalty amidst a sea of Orioles fans in this town. I even named my son Mattingly after Don Mattingly, Yankee captain and pinstripe hero.

Then there's basketball...I started coaching in 1987, and I'm hooked! I coach in Montgomery County, MD in several recreation department leagues. I also play ball myself on Sunday nights with a group of other geriatric businessmen. If you're in town and you're game, give me a call.

Music! I listen to Cajun, Zydeco, African, Blues, tons of singer-songwriters, Celtic, Old-Time, and classic jazz. I also love to contra dance, New England square dance, and lately a little Zydeco dance too.

If I didn't have the House of Musical Traditions, I'd have to go out and get a real job!
