2004 GRAMMY Nominee
for Best Traditional Folk Album
More than just a live recording, ...and the tin pan bended, and the story ended... is a piece of American music history that celebrates the life and career of a treasured performer. Dave Van Ronk left a deep mark on the folksong revival of the 1960s. His jazz-trained voice, masterful guitar technique and sharp wit endeared him to audiences everywhere. He also made friends with artists such as Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Mississippi John Hurt, and Christina Lavin.
Van Ronk died in February, 2002. This recording preserves the final live performance of his career -- made by our own David Eisner (owner of HMT) during Van Ronk's concert for the Institute of Musical Traditions on October 22, 2001.
"One night I wandered into the Gaslight Cafe (in New York City's Greenwich Village) and heard a young folksinger named Dave Van Ronk: great stories; gravelly voice; hoarse belly laugh; crisp, clean guitar sound. I was an instant fan... Thirty-five years later I was glad to have another chance to produce a show with one of my heroes." -- David Eisner
