Folk, bluegrass, blues, swing, bossa nova and jazz guitar and vocals
Esther Haynes began playing folk guitar at the age of 12, and later learned a wide range of styles, from rhythm to bluegrass music. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music. In Boston, she joined the bluegrass/swing band Boston City Limits as a rhythm guitarist and singer. She has continued to perform with musicians such as ragtime and contra-dance guitarist Larry Unger, John Dirac of the Either Orchestra, Justin Lees, Phil Mathieu, and Rusty Bogart. Currently she is the rhythm guitarist in the Tom Cunningham Orchestra, and performs with Hokum Jazz and in a jazz duo as a vocalist/guitarist. Her guitar and vocal styles encompass folk, bluegrass, blues, swing, bossa nova and jazz.
She has recorded one CD "Esther Haynes" which received a Wammie Nomination, and is working on a second recording of jazz vocal standards.
