Cooperman fifes produce a strong, clear sound with true intonation. They are tapered at both ends in a design which is perfectly suited for 18th century through American Civil War re-enactors. Oval mouth hole. Recessed fingerholes provide optimum coverage and grip. All Cooperman fifes have long brass ferrules. Made in USA from finest quality imported and native hardwoods.
No endangered wood species are used. All fifes are keyless. Cooperman uses the following hardwoods:

Rosewood, the most popular of the exotic hardwoods, is a traditional wood for the fife. It is a very stable wood, reddish brown in color.

Persimmon, an excellent fife wood, is a native wood also known as American ebony. Its natural color is light amber with occasional dark streaks.

Cooperman Traditional Model Fifes
Strong, clear sound with no intonation problems. Following the historic form of the fife, it is made of a single piece of wood with a simple untapered bore, 6 tone holes, long brass ferrules and no keys. Suitable for 18th century through Civil War re-enactors.
