1930s Openback Tenor Banjo (used)

Sale price $ 399.00 Regular price $ 485.00

This tenor banjo came to us from an estate collection of over 60 instruments. We do not know much about its history and have not been identify the make (it's also likely that the neck is not original to the pot) - but it was probably made in the 1930s. 18-fret maple neck, 10 7/8" mylar head, metal-clad stained birch rim, rosewood fretboard, script "F" inlaid in headstock.

It is currently set up in CGDA tuning. Conversion to Irish tuning is possible, but would likely require upgrading the friction tuners to planetary geared, to handle the increased string tension.

This instrument is in very good condition, having recently been refurbished by our senior luthier, including:
- new mylar head
- neck refit
- frets dressed
- new neck brace
- new maple/ebony bridge
- strut/tailpiece lug realigned
- cleaned, polished & set up with new strings

It plays nicely with a bright, punchy sound. Case not included.
