1996 Taylor PS-10 Brazilian Rosewood Guitar, Owned by John Cephas (used)

Sale price $ 4,900.00 Regular price $ 6,800.00

Price reduced! Was $6,800.

This 1996 Taylor PS-10 (serial 960823137) was previously owned by Piedmont blues legend John Cephas, and comes to us from his family's estate (Cephas passed away in 2009).

This guitar is from Taylor's Presentation Series, and reportedly only 4 of these were made with Brazilian Rosewood in 1996. It has an Engleman Spruce top, Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard, rosewood faceplate, mahogany neck, beautiful fretboard inlay and abalone purfling, and Fishman pickup system with volume and tone controls. There is a "Fishman Equipped" decal on the lower bout - at the time, both Taylor and Fishman thought it was a good idea to advertise their partnership with the on board electronics.

Overall the guitar is in very good condition, and has just been set up by our luthier - playing and sounding nicely! There are some finish blemishes on the top, a small ding on the upper bout binding, and previously repaired damage around control knob. Taylor gig bag is included, which has "914 Cut away" written on it in marker. Obviously not the original case, but this is what the guitar came to us in.

Fully insured UPS Ground shipping within the continental US is $100. Due to the inclusion of Brazilian rosewood, this guitar cannot be shipped outside of the USA.

John Cephas performed with his musical partner, Phil Wiggins, for over 25 years as Cephas & Wiggins. They defined and preserved the playing style called Piedmont Blues. They both were awarded National Heritage Awards and countless blues accolades over that span of time. Wiggins is still performing around the Washington DC area & beyond.
