1914 Gibson A2 Mandolin (used)

Regular price $ 1,688.00

This is a Gibson A2 mandolin dating to 1914 (serial number 16392) with an all-black body bound top and back in white; an oval sound hole; and its original The Gibson engraved tailpiece and tuning machines. Scale measures 14" while the nut measures 1 and 5/16".
This mandolin is missing its original pickguard and it has been fitted with a later-style adjustable bridge. There are also still some very light scratches on the back as well as a half-inch grey mark in the finish (pictured).

The original Gibson hardshell case is included with this instrument and it is in very good condition!

Our senior luthier Marc Glickman (an expert restorer of vintage Gibsons) professionally reconditioned this mandolin so that it is cosmetically attractive (with its nicks and scratches retouched) and structurally healthy. After repairing the tail-block/rib joint and a top crack between the sound hole and bottom edge, the damage is now absolutely solid and virtually unnoticeable. The restoration process is viewable on his Facebook page
