High-quality tenor banjo from Weymann, ca 1920s. Serial #40938. 10.5" flat-head rim, curly maple w/adjustable neck brace, 18-fret rosewood fretboard & faceplate, small white dot position markers, Weymann decal on back of headstock. Waverly adjustable tailpiece, 16 L-shoes, roundhooks, stepped hoop, nickel plating. Later geared planetary tuners.
Just had $200 worth of refurbishment work by our senior luthier, an expert in vintage banjo restoration: banjo was disassembled with all parts clean & polished, new Renaissance high crown head installed, new bridge, neck shimmed, adjusted and setup for Irish tuning (GDAE).
This banjo came to us with a detached resonator, but we did not attach it - this banjo has an original adjustable neck brace attached to the dowel stick that is in the way of any bracket for attaching a resonator (though it seems to have had one put on at one time, probably after-market). It plays nicely as an openback.
Original case is included, which has plenty of wear but is still functional.
