Made by Vega in Boston, MA, serial number 30839 (1914). Exceptional American-made instrument for the classical player. Back of 21 rosewood ribs, mahogany neck and spruce top bound in white. Detail work includes engraved inlays in ebony fretboard (one restored), tortoise pickguard with flawless floral shell inlay, abalone rosette and engraved tailpiece. 13" scale, 1 1/8" nut width.
Newly refretted and bracing added by luthier Marc Glickman to correct top distortion at sides of sound hold and between bridge and tail. Otherwise, all original including compensated ebony bridge, ivory nut. One repaired crack alongside the fingerboard is impreceptible. Minor pick and finger wear. Fine low action. Professionally set up with D'Addario flat-wounds.
