Our senior luthier, an expert in Gibson mandolin restoration, just completed the following repairs on this instrument:
- Damaged pickguard was removed
- Reglued back seam.
- Cleaned & polished, set up: touched up frets, restring, adjust action. New D’Addario Ej72 medium strings.
This is one of several mandolins from a family collection that were recently sold to us. After its repair work, we'd put it in Very Good, near-excellent condition. No visible fretwear or structural concerns. Minor cosmetic wear, as to be expected on an instrument of this age. This mandolin has incredibly long and sweet sustain, fairly exceptional as compared to other Gibson A's of this era we've seen.
