ca. 1910-20, Carl Fischer Co, NYC
Exceptional specimen constructed in the finest Italian tradition with scalloped ribs, requiring thicker material, producing a stronger and more substantial body as well as a beautiful appearance. Paper label fully intact.
No doubt made in one of the New York or Chicago Italian-American workshops of the era, for Fischer, which still exists today as a music publishing company.
Back of 29 Brazilian rosewood ribs, spruce top with elaborate abalone-inlaid pick guard and purfling, beautifully bound in white, possibly bone. Mahogany neck with pearl inlays original tuners with genuine pearl knobs and engraved cover. Engraved replacement tailpiece cover.
Excellent condition overall. No major repairs or issues. Minor cracks and separations have been repaired; finish nicks and scratches retouched.
Fully conditioned, set up and guaranteed 60-days by luthier-owner. Original bridge, fine action. With beautiful, rare, leather case of the period, thoroughly reconditioned with new handle.
