6-string treble viol made in Germany, ca. late 1960s or early 70s. European woods used in top, back, and sides, bubinga fingerboard & tailpiece, internally geared tuners. While not a replica, this instrument is more lightly constructed, allowing for the current string set that combines "Pistoy" braided lower strings and high twist "Lyon" trebles on top. This is the current trend in Authentic Performance practice. Hard case included.
Very good condition. This instrument comes to us from a larger estate of a collector & teacher of Renaissance instruments, and was examined by a specialist of historical violin-family instruments before being put out for sale.
