Wonderful example of a Gibson F4! This one was made in 1920 or 21 (serial 65603). F-style with oval hole. Original hard case included, in very good condition with newer replacement handle.
Carved spruce top, finished black. Curly maple back and sides with cherry finish. Script "The Gibson" and Flower Pot headstock inlay. Mahogany neck, no truss rod. Body, neck and headstock bound white. Original tortoise celluloid pickguard, original adjustable bridge w/aluminum saddle. Paper label with model & serial no.

Our senior luthier, an expert with vintage Gibson mandolins, performed a full setup on this instrument including: polish frets, condition fretboard, restring (D'Addario EJ74), adjust action, polish hardware, pad tailpiece cover and pickguard mount, minor varnish touch-ups and general clean/polish. No cracks, structural or other playability issues were noted that needed attending to. All parts original and intact.
Our luthier also provided a formal written appraisal for a value of $7,900, which will be included with the sale.
