4-string, hourglass lap dulcimer made by Scott Hauser in 1971, in Eugene, OR. Serial number 53, signed & dated. All walnut with holly purfling. Carved scroll. Long-scale body, with 6 1/2 and 13 1/2 frets, and zero fret.
This dulcimer has been restored by our senior luthier. As part of a correction of a previous, poorly done pegbox repair, he installed Wittner geared tuners. Traditional look of friction pegs with modern convenience of accurate and easy tuning! An old break in the pegbox was reinforced, walls thickened/strengthened, new doubling installed. Back braces were reglued, new ebony nut installed, and complete setup including reconditioning the oil finish, new strings (D'Addario EJ64) and adjustments. The dulcimer is now in excellent condition.
Original Harptone hard case is included.
