4-string, hourglass lap dulcimer made by legendary Kentucky maker Homer Ledford ca 1977. Walnut & poplar woods. Wooden friction pegs, 26.5" scale length, 33.5" overall length (a bit shorter than some other dulcimers). The staple frets are across 2 courses; drone string is unfretted.
This dulcimer needed some TLC when it came to us, so we had our senior luthier refurbish it. He reglued the top & back to the ribs. To alleviate high action, he reconfigured the tail block, re-drilling and filling holes. He also performed a complete setup, including refitting & lubricating pegs, leveling frets, adjusting bridge & action, and restringing.
The dulcimer is now in very good condition. Padded gig bag is included.
Ledford passed away in 2006. He was honored both during his lifetime and posthumously for his work in luthiery and with the Cabin Creek Band.
Insured shipping within the continental US is $75.
