Rare and exceptional! Kamaka pineapple uke made in Hawaii, dating to about 1929 (serial is likely 9715, but a bit difficult to read). All koa/mahogany with rope binding. Our senior luthier repaired cracks on lower back, lower treble side, and top - now barely visible. He also rehabbed the original tuning pegs and replaced the plastic knobs with vintage white knobs. Frets were dressed and the uke is set up with Aquila strings. Original hard case is included. One latch is missing, but it still holds together and is in good condition otherwise.
This instrument was part of the collection of the late Johnny Fox, sword-swallower and performer for many years at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, who passed away from cancer last year. We are selling it on behalf of Johnny's estate.
