Learn the fundamentals of playing the bodhran (Irish frame drum)! This workshop is geared towards new beginners, but more experienced players are welcome too - Scott will work with each student individually.
A limited number of bodhrans will be available for pre-registrants to borrow for the workshop! In the drop-down menu above, please select whether you will be bringing your own bodhran or need to borrow one, before clicking "add to cart."
In addition to regular workshops at HMT, Scott Morrison has taught at Appalachian Bluegrass in Catonsville, the Gaelic College in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and at various Celtic festivals in MD, VA and PA. Scott holds a B.S. in Music from Frostburg State University, with a double concentration in K-12 Music Education and Percussion Performance. He has been running his own music school, "Rimshots" (based in Elkridge, MD) for 20 years. In addition to performing locally with world beat band Big Blow and the Bushwackers, and his own Scottish/Irish trad ensemble Dileab Phriseil, Scott is also an accomplished Gaelic speaker.
Space is limited! You may register and pay directly through our website, or by calling us at 301-270-9090. Questions? Email our workshop coordinator at email@example.com. Please note that we shut off online registrations for weekend workshops on Fridays (please call us if you want to register last-minute).
