Serial #76372, near mint!
Exceptional, gorgeous example of one of the most favored jazz-era tenor banjos, with the famous Vega Tu-ba-phone tone ring.
Had previously been "updated" with the addition of the pearl block inlays and a garish yellow-red sunburst lacquer refinish in the style of the post-war Vegas. This we removed from the neck, resonator and outside of the rim (inside is original finish) revealing the most beautiful figured maple, and restored to original appearance with a subtle shading in a spirit varnish similar to the original.
All original hardware with the exception of the armrest, in very good condition, including Grover 2:1 ratio tuners - a few spots of damage or wear to plating. Pie-section style resonator, individual flanges. New "Renaissance" mylar head.
Absolutely no structural issues. Professionally set up and guaranteed 90 days by luthier-owner. Complete package includes solid period hardshell case by Loft and original Vega bracket wrench.
