The accordion may seem like a daunting instrument with all of those buttons and bellows, but have no fear—it is a seriously misunderstood little musical box. In this workshop, we will be tackling the basics of piano accordion, such as button mapping, song/rhythm structures, and practice techniques.
This introductory class will be geared for teen or adult students who have never played accordion before, but have a basic understanding of musical theory. Students with little to no musical experience are advised to contact us prior to registration.
McKinley Corbley is a piano and accordion teacher (with School of Musical Traditions) who took piano lessons for years before finding her passion for experimenting with instruments of all kinds. She has self-recorded and published five full-band studio albums, collected two dozen instruments from around the world, and played solo and full-band shows across North America. She loves to share accordion theory with students new to the instrument, promising that it’s actually quite manageable once you know how to map out the keys!
