Tellavi Kashaka Asalato Cas Cas Koshkash African Shakers

Regular price $ 20.00

Two small gourds filled with seeds, connected by a string. These originate in West Africa  and go by many names: tellavi, televi, asalato, aslatua, kashaka, cas cas, kosh kas and more. A deceptively simple percussion instrument that can get quite complicated with impressive technique! See the video for an example of a master player.

This listing is for TWO PAIRS - one for each hand, or have a backup/share one with a friend! If you order a quantity of two, you will receive 4 pairs.

Sizes of seed pods and appearance vary - these come from a few different suppliers in Ghana. The string length averages about 3.5-4". We do our best to pick a similar sized pair for each order, but they may have variances.

By nature of the material they are made of, these are fragile instruments. You'll want to monitor your amount of "force" when playing them as the two gourds strike each other. We can't provide a warranty on this item, but if yours breaks in short order, we can discuss a discount on a new order.
