Franz Geissenhof 4/4 Violin, 1808 Copy in excellent condition
A 4/4 violin made in 1808 by Franz Geissenhof represents the peak golden period of one of Austria's finest luthiers, often celebrated as the "Viennese Stradivari". Authentic violins from this specific year are highly prized historical rarities Authentic 1808 models typically bear a printed inside label reading: “Franciscus Geissenhof fecit. Viennæ Anno 1808” and are also famously recognizable by a distinct "FG" brand mark stamped directly onto the button of the back. This instrument is lacking the "FG" brand, and is therefore most probably a copy. Recently repaired -- a button graft and neck re-gluing with projection correction -- this violin has a lush sound that projects well.
