1991 Chris Allen & Sabina Kormylo Italian Renaissance lute, 7 courses, 13 strings in very good condition
s/n #26 (made in England, May 1991)
Sold via the Early Music Shop in London, this entry-level lute was made by Chris Allen and Sabina Kormylo, who are highly respected British luthiers. Allen and Kormylo specialize in faithful historic reproductions of stringed instruments, primarily known for their hurdy-gurdies and Renaissance lutes. Operating out of their workshop, they build meticulous replicas based closely on surviving museum pieces and historical specifications. One notable blemish is that a crack is starting to appear on the right side of the top (ca. 1-1/2", see picture).
