This 1947 Gibson L-50 is a quality "jazz-box" player with a crisp tone that really projects. The mahogany neck feels fast and plays smooth across the board.
As with many instruments of this vintage, the guitar has character and wears its years of play without looking beat-up. It is in very good condition with many small dings and surface scratches, as well as finish checking and minor spots of wear.
The hollow body looks classy with faded cream double-binding highlighting a dark sunburst finish on the spruce top with two F-holes. Included are what appear to be the original nickel tailpiece and a compensated rosewood floating bridge, as well as (a likely non-original) 4-ply black pickguard. The dark brown maple back and sides gleam and show less wear than the top. The guitar weighs-in at a super light 4 lbs 4 oz.
The medium thickness neck profile (more like a C than a U shape) is bound in cream with dot markers. A Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is inlayed with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays--one of which is discolored (see pics). Frets are in very good condition. The tuners appear to be original but one has been re-installed (in a different screw hole) and are in good working condition.
The nut measures 1 11/16" wide and the bridge position is currently set to 25 1/4" scale length.
