Oliver Ditson bowl-back mandolin in excellent condition.

Beautiful American-made, quality constructed mandolin in a wonderful state of preservation, with a simple, elegant design and a sweet tone. Stamped on back of headstock and on neck block inside, with paper label~ "Specifically Made for Oliver Ditson Company".

Ditson was a 19th- and early 20th-century music publisher and distributor whose instruments were made by various companies, including their subsidiary John C. Haynes Co., CF Martin and others.

Rosewood back of 14 ribs, spruce top with oval soundhole, black/white purfling, inlaid tortoise pickguard and rosewood binding; mahogany neck, rosewood faceplate, original ebony bridge and fingerboard with bar frets, pearl dot position markers, high quality tuners.

All original. No major repairs or structural issues. Fully professionally reconditioned, some scuffs and scratches retouched and polished out. Set up with x-light-gauge strings (recommended), excellent low action, and guaranteed for playability and structural soundness 90 days by luthier-owner. Original heavy felt case in rare like-new condition included.
