Unlike traditional diatonic dulcimers, this 2008 chromatic lap dulcimer by Robert E. Magowan has a full set of frets like a guitar allowing for play in any key without retuning. A trademark of Magowan's instruments, this instrument is made with Hawaiian koa for a "hybrid" tone, blending the midrange sweetness of mahogany with the top-end clarity of maple. A pickup also allows for amplified play, making this a unique and versatile instrument!
