Steel-string Parlor guitar built ca 1830s. No label or maker's mark, but appears to be quite close to a French Lacôte model - it may be a copy. The current owner who has it on consignment with us acquired it from a collector who purchased it at a French auction. This collector had some repairs done in 2020, about 1 year before selling to the current owner: mainly a back reglue to correct the neck angle and action. They commented at that time that the action was now "perfect."

- Nut Width: 1 13/16"
- Scale Length: 24 3/4"
- Upper Bout: 9"
- Lower Bout: 11 3/8"
The wood is spruce, overlaid with flamed maple veneer. Fretboard is spruce. The frets on the neck are modern metal frets, but the higher ones are the original bone frets. Some frets are lifting slightly. Mechanical tuners are original and one is a bit bent, but all function adequately.
There are numerous small previous repairs, and usual signs of surface wear.
Most notable condition-wise: the guitar has a significant bridge lift, and a body crack behind the bridge. The cost to repair these will be fairly substantial, given the care and cleanup required. We hope the guitar will be of interest in its current condition to someone who does their own repairs, and/or a collector who appreciates it as a historical piece.
A hard case is included, which fits the guitar fairly well along with a foam insert.
