Two small gourds (or hardwood, see options) filled with seeds, connected by a string. These originate in West Africa and go by many names: tellavi, televi, asalato, aslatua, kashaka, cas cas and more. A deceptively simple percussion instrument that can get quite complicated with impressive technique! See the video for an example of a master player.
Sizes vary. Currently we have both gourd and hardwood versions available. The hardwood are a bit more durable, but the string length is longer (about 6 inches as opposed to 3.5-4" on the gourds). However, the string on the hardwood ones can be adjusted and re-knotted.
